Carrie will be participating in the annual Broad Ripple Art Fair being held May 19–20 at the Indianapolis Art Center in Indianapolis. The BRAF is a juried art fair featuring more than 225 artist booths, plus live music, food, and more. Carrie will be located at booth # 425 in the Artist Green area (near west end of Art Center). Carrie recently served as a grant panelist for the Indiana Arts Commission. Carrie served on the panel evaluating grant applications in the Visual Arts category for the 2013 Individual Artist Program.
Carrie participated in the second annual Indiana Artisan Marketplace held March 31 – April 1 at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. The 2012 Marketplace featured 150 artisans with booths showcasing and selling their fine art, quality crafts, and specialty foods. Carrie created an illustration to accompany an article in the Spring 2012 issue of GreenPrints magazine.
For the third year in a row, Carrie was selected to serve as an art juror for the Central and Southern Indiana Region of the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards held by The Alliance for Young Artists & Writers. The 2012 regional panel judging took place on January 14 at Butler University in Indianapolis. The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards is the largest, longest-running, and most prestigious recognition program in the United States for student achievement in visual arts and creative writing. The awards offer an opportunity for students in grades 7-12 to have their work professionally evaluated and recognized. The Alliance also provides further support and encouragement for young artists and writers through exhibitions, publications, and scholarships.

of a gardener's encounter with a curious baby bunny to accompany
an article by Susan Portman in the
Winter 2011-12 issue of GreenPrints magazine. Susan's
garden was recently part of a garden tour, and photographs of a wild
rabbit in her garden can be seen here.
Carrie participated in the Zionsville Autumn Artscape fair on October 8, 2011. Autumn Artscape is an annual juried fine art fair held in historic downtown Zionsville, Indiana, featuring over forty of central Indiana's finest artists, including painters, potters, jewelers, woodworkers, and more.
Carrie's painting "Crane With Fireflies" was juried into the 2011 Postcard Art Competition & Exhibition (PACE) sponsored by the Curt Teich Postcard Archives, part of the Lake County Discovery Museum in Wauconda, Illinois. The Curt Teich Postcard Archives is recognized throughout the world as the largest public collection of postcards and related materials. PACE is a biennial juried exhibition that honors the postcard as an art form and challenges artists to create original works of art in a 4" × 6" postcard size. The Postcard Art Exhibition will be on display at the Lake County Discovery Museum from October 1, 2011 through January 29, 2012 before traveling to other locations in 2012.
Both of Carrie's entries were juried into the Professional Division Fine Art Show at the 2011 Indiana State Fair. Carrie's paintings "Blackbird With Cherries" and "Blodeuwedd The Owl" were exhibited at the Fair from August 5–21. "Blackbird With Cherries" was also awarded the 3rd Place ribbon in the Mixed Media category.
Carrie was selected as one of three winners in a competition sponsored by Nature's Crossroads to create new artwork for the seed packets of three of their Indiana-grown varieties of vegetables and herbs. Carrie's artwork for Sweet Genovese Basil will appear on seed packets available in the Spring 2012 Nature's Crossroads catalog.
In May 2011, Carrie was accepted into Art IN Hand Gallery, a juried co-operative gallery owned, operated, and staffed by a group of central Indiana professional artists working in diverse styles and media. Carrie has original paintings, giclée reproductions, and greeting cards available at the gallery. Art IN Hand Gallery is located in Zionsville, Indiana.
